FIRST OLD MANS SHOOT 2024 FEB.

All in all I think it went off well. We had 19 shooters. I think everyone enjoyed the relaxed type of shoot. They were all straight forward and unusual, not the type of shoot they are used to.

Very few have shot off a moving bakkie before. Started with bum against the cab facing backwards. Soul was the driver. As you move off, you shoot 10 targets as they pass you left and right. No time involved. Last target is the end of the shoot.

The runner taxi shoot, well, as the usual, gesukkel with the runner luckily Eric was there to sort it out. Not usual to blast off 18 shots from one box, but it was fun 6 targets in the moving taxi. Made picking up brass easy.

My runner still not working properly I asked Johan Otto “do you think it’s too fast” he said its ok…..That meant it’s to fast. So, we again had a stationary runner but I’m working on it.

Standards was a long sort of speed shoot start from 40m and work your way to 7 meters shooting along the way.

Much discussion followed at the bring and braai afterwards about the age of a veteran for the old man’s shoot. At the moment a veteran or over 50 according to SAPSA. A grand master is over 70 Then CTSASA is over 60. And super vet 70. The club is over 60. So,

there might be changes coming.

The bring and braai was great, Matty supplied pap and sous. And George introduced us to flaming steaks, looked more like a bonfire with occasional flare-ups as the marinaded steaks were thrust into the flames. Different. ROBERTS COMMENT WAS “IS JULLE HONGER OF NET HASTIG”

Everyone thought this was a great shoot.
