What is a top gun shoot?
It is an annual competition normally in September shot over two days.
It consists of Rifle, Shotgun, Handgun, .22 and Air Gun.
They all score out of 200 points giving you a total of 1000 points.
Who can shoot this competition?
Anyone who belongs to a registered shooting club and is proficient in the use of the various firearms.
Victor ludorum trophy
This is awarded to the overall winner who competes in all the 5 events. There is also n victrix ludorum for the ladies, and a prize for the shooter who did not fair to well.
Top Gun Structure
Rifle event
- Rifle is normally 300m and 200m.
- Plates and targets shot from rests and freestyle.
- 300m -10 shots from sandbag rests.
- 200m – 10 shots, varied from rest then a walk-up various distances up to 50 meters.
- Normally 20 shots for the rifle event.
Shotgun event
- Shotgun normally trap and sporting.
- ATA Trap – 20 clays.
- Sporting – 20 clays.
- Total of 40 clays for the Shotgun event.
Air Gun and .22 events
- Silhouette targets and paper targets.
- 20 silhouettes.
- 20 shots on paper targets.
- Normally 40 shots for the Air Gun event.
Handgun events
- Bianchi plates and a set of standard exercises.
- 20 plates.
- 20 shots standard exercise.
- Normally 40 shots for the Handgun event.
