It was the club champs handgun. Everyone welcome shoot if you have a handgun come join us to shoot. Not complicated, not difficult, no balls to the wall stuff, just a nice social shoot.
Fanie drew up 5 stages, he could not attend as he and Johan were shooting nationals this weekend. So, we went on without them. There were 16 shooters old and young deurmekaar. Wat was lekker, there were ladies shooting and been coached, even some old guys been helped, it was verry nice.
There was a Standards which I like, that is the basics of shooting. Were you learn all the stuff. Draw and fire, safety on and off, holster work, sight picture, mag changes, using time allocated for an exercise. listening to the RO. And of course, basic safety rules. I like standards.
Then the usual El Pres. This is a great exercise for mag changes and drawing and firing, and you shoot against yourself. You can go as fast as you want as long as you are confident of your shot. The next one I’m going to do is A’s only to count, that should get you looking at your sights.
An interesting one was 5 targets. 1 on T1… 2 on T2… 3 on T3…. 4 on T4 and 5 on T5. That made you think you are so used to double tapping a target.
The plates were also interesting. 3 targets and 6 plates. Start on T2 then go to T1… then BACK to T2… then go to T3…. then BACK to T2…. then engage the 6 plates. So, you engage T2 three times. Interesting. Jammer Johan you tyd was goed, maar jy het T2 net twee mal geskiet.
Then a tyre shoot, various targets and two poppers. Not difficult. And you can be as fast as you want. With about 10 meters of moving.
I must say it was a lekker shot, easy peasy to set up, only 4 screens and a whole bunch of targets. Briefing was simple, shoot it like that. You can do it fast or slow, BUT that is how you shoot it.
I think range building took an hour for 5 ranges. We started shooting at 10 and finished at 1. And went to the bar for refreshments results, and as usual intelligent discussions followed.
