What a blast, two weekends in a row. Hot weather, a bit windy but lekker, Summer is upon us. Started off with the 3-gun shoot. Shotgun, handgun and .22. we changed the sequence to accommodate the 100-shotgun competition.
I don’t know, I feel it just went a lot quicker, or maybe just because they put Tom and me through first, as we were the only two shooting both competitions.
Anyway, off to shotgun. Here PD and Ronel did a hell of a job, organising and scoring, went off well. The problem is when people arrive late, and then want to shoot everything, but what, they coped well.
Was lekker to see Jennie there, one of our Protea club members. She shot everything. Hasn’t lost her touch, just needs to practice more. The standing bet is, when he shoots her 25 straight, we get to shoot her bra, not her cap. She was getting close to it, then she stopped shooting for quite a while… chicken.
Was nice to see an active current Protea shooting with us, Clive invited David and his dad Andrew, who shot the World Compac Shoot in the Cape, he did very well there. He came to show us how it is done. And of course, he took first place. Well done. But it was not just sporting, it was a combination of all 4 disciplines. Don’t forget Anthony who also shot the world shoot with Dylan. Anthony was here, but not Dylan.
The only hiccup we had was our ball trap competition. Fucc!t we should have known. If you are going to try something new TEST IT. Anyway, we had a sort of a ball trap shoot. Turned-out fun with lots of bantering along the way. Shooting low and extremely low clays, snakes.
I was a bit disappointed with the turnout, we had 15 guns. Originally, we were 20 entries, but partying the night before took its toll. Also, our regular Wolwehoek members did not support the shoot.
Thanks to Jimmy who did the boerewors rolls braai for us. We really would have run out of time then. OK it was a full moon night, but that was not part of the plan.
