Results – Shotgun 100 #2

PD Pretorius

Wolwehoek hosted its second 100 competition on a very beautiful spring day. We added a few prizes to the pot to entice a few new feet at the shoot. We had 20 entries but due to other commitments some could not attend and some with self-inflicted injuries (Will not mention names and the injury obtained, well beer or something like that was involved 😊). Disappointed in our own local Wolwehoek members that did not participate! At the end of the day, we had 15 shooters.

We had the privilege to meet up with a world class shooter who also participated in the “100” competition for the day. David Lillico have won many accolades within the shotgun community and specialize in FITASC and Compak discipline. His dad Andrew showed us where David got his talent from, also a very good shooter of clays.

The 3 gunners started at 10h00 on the ATA Trap range so they could finish their event on their own time and then join the 100 competition afterwards. It seems like oom Tom saw the clays much beter that early in the morning as he just missed his straight by 1 clay. Well done with that winning 24 score for the ATA Trap oom Tom!

We started off with the sporting clays and then to follow the skeet range, ATA Trap, and Ball Trap to end the day.

The sporting range was setup by oom Allan and was not a difficult range but oom Allan that mini was just a bit tricky to shoot. Okay Jennifer and little Michael shot it so maybe it is not impossible… 😊

Sporting Top Guns:

  1. David Lillico (22)
  2. Anthony Klonarides (22)
  3. Mark Mcgee (19)

At the skeet range we had one straight… wonder who that could be??? David Lillico showed us his marksmanship here and it was very nice to see!

Skeet Top Guns:

  1. David Lillico (25)
  2. Allan peeters (21)
  3. PD Pretorius (21)

The ATA Trap range is a bugger, it does not want to give away those straights anymore. Someone needs to break the straight curse immediately! Here we had some of the old hands at Wolwehoek edging towards the straight. Oom Tom nearly got his straight but lost one bird unfortunately. Clive rocked up with an impressive 23 for the day! Well done julle toppies!!!

ATA Trap Top guns:

  1. Tom Diedericks (24)
  2. Clive Spencer (23)
  3. Anthony Klonarides (22)

The Ball Trap!!! Man, this was mos easy to setup! Just flick the switch and move one link for some more width on the angled clays. Not so easy as our setup was not lekker calibrated for the low and high clays. After a bit of fiddling, we decided to shoot it as it was. For the very low clays you can just leave it and call it a no bird! So, we started and Mr David started shooting the lowest clays and smashing them! This caused a bit of a frenzy of who else can shot those “David low flyers”. Lots of fun but we decided hey if you shoot at it, it’s a valid bird so no, “NO BIRD” after the fact! 😊 Damn those low birds are enticing to shoot. Here someone started with a bit of banter and chirping on the field and off the field. Man, I enjoyed the Ball Trap, was so much fun!

Ball Trap Top Guns:

  1. Mark McGee (23)
  2. David Lillico (23)
  3. Allan Peeters (23)

Now that that is out of the way we can have a look at who the Top Guns were for the day including all four disciplines. It was to no surprise that our number one spot went to David, Anthony took second spot with just two clays behind David. Well done Anthony and David! Now the third spot is a bit of a predicament!!! Here we had oom Allan and I with only one clay that stood in our way to a wonderful friendship that would have lasted for a loooooong time! Ha ha ha, NEE ‘n WEN IS ‘n WEN MOS!!! 😊 Well done oom Allan on third spot for the day. (PS: You have one hell of a gun handler!)
