OK a bit of a conundrum here. co‧nundrum noun [countable] 1 a confusing and difficult problem. Where to draw the line on range setting.
I’ve always said speed is good, but accuracy is better. Hence the logo. Diligentia, Vis, Celeritous (DVC), Latin for “precision, power, speed”
Now this shoot proved the point, I personally did not really like it.
Firstly, there were a lot of Minnie targets, I don’t really have a problem with that, but not so many the one speed shoot. A 24 rounder only had Minnie targets. 12 of them.
The bain of my life is frikking plates. I hate them. We got lots of them. 19 plates in a 5-stage shoot. And three stages had all 19 plates between them.
Ok, and the plates were all Minnie plates. We do have normal pepper poppers, but none in sight or to shoot at.
The one plate speed shoot really slowed you down, the bigger plates were in front, and the smallest were at the furthest distance, I think it was set up backwards. (My personal opinion).
But it’s the same for everyone. I JUST HATE WALKING AWAY LEAVING PLATES STANDING. Especially after emptying a 20-shot mag with a speed shoot that has one target in your face. And 6 plates.
Ok maybe because I’m jinxed about plates and can’t hit the things, especially the little buggers so far away.
SO. my take on the shoot, it was not a club shoot, it was a bit demoralising for the beginners. Especially if we want to make it fun. I’m sure some of beginners walked away with zero score. On some stages. And plates left standing.
The experienced shooters got a lot of plate practice. And long shots. I believe that was the norm at the SA Nationals. A club shoot is not the nationals.
The PPC guys enjoyed it immensely.
But all in all, a nice uncomplicated easy to set up shoot, and easy to shoot. But with a bit of serious difficulty.
Dankie Fanie vir die werk wat jy doen in die handgun seksie.
Dis nie uitk@k nie, just my opinion. Nothing wrong with constructive criticism. (I think)
