Wolwehoek Club Champs – IPSC Event 2 – 26 February 2022

Our second IPSC handgun club champs were held using the new registration time of 8:30. Even though this time may still take some getting used to, with 28 shooters (10 visitors) pitching up all ranges were built within an hour and the fun could start. The match consisted of 5 stages with a minimum round count of 91 of which 17 were steel. In hindsight this was maybe a bit over ambitious and would need some checking in future.

Stage 5 required a balance between accuracy and speed. (i.e., what IPSC shooting is all about!)

The contenders were well distributed between the Production (17) and Standards (10) division, with a lone soul embarking on Production Optics. In addition, it could not have been better representative of our shooting community with 4 juniors, 4 ladies, 7 general, 6 seniors and 7 super senior participants. It was a rare pleasure having both oom Allan and Matthy joining us as well. For those who do not know – they started “combat shooting”, as it was then known, at Wolwehoek.

For stage 3 we dusted off the old balance platform for a 9 round short course with 7 steel targets and one paper target. Three of the remaining five ranges were loosely inspired by the recent February Nationals. These required a fair amount of movement presenting the opportunity to shoot on the move for those who wished to do so. The last detail finished at about 13:30 just when the hole in the ozone layer was directly above us and we could find some shade and liquid refreshments at the club house.

In general, a good time was had by all. We hope to see many more of you at the next event and please invite family and friends along to join in the fun. For the sake of brevity, I would not go into a full analysis of the results. Please refer to the Overall results below of all shooters.
