Night Shoot Results – 14 May 2021

Well at last, another night shoot, these are fun and normally well attended. There was a bit of a mix-up of the dates I thought it was the 7th but found out in time. Maybe a bit of a communication not reading the newsletter properly. See the April newsletter…FOCUS FOOL.

Etienne did a great job of setting up the shoots. Then sent Nicolene to do all the work. I think he has taken this delegation stuff to seriously. Not really, he had to go to the Cape for work related stuff or he would have been there.

Everyone pitched in to set ranges, luckily nothing was complicated, no plates, basically 4 targets set out. Easy range setting, uncomplicated briefing, safety briefing, and so the shooting started. All in all,  4 stages 8 shots on most of them. Some with limited light some with torches, the usual night shoot scenario. But this time all the shoots were fixed time, Virginia count, no filling in. This worked well.

  • Stage 1 – was bakkie shoot, park lights only 4 targets 15 sec, lots of time.
  • Stage 2 – was back to target the shooters move the targets around so you had no idea were they were. Then turn round with torch in hand find them kill them.
  • Stage 3 – light at your feet. 3 Halloween targets shoot the monsters.
  • Stage 4 – was standards range, when light comes on kill 4 targets.

Shooting went quickly, then packed away equipment, then off to the clubhouse for results and American hotdogs, Coffee, Soup, and the bar. There was an impromptu braai, these guys stayed on till 3am the morning, mooi man!!!

The American hotdogs was a great idea, John showed us how it was built up… Hotdog roll, a layer of butter, a layer of mince, a dog, then some stuff on top of that, some more stuff, on top of that stuff, and then more stuff on top of that… baie lekker, not your average hot dog. Results were quick, Werner was as usual very witty with the prizegiving had lots of comments to make which is nice.

Interesting points to ponder on. There were 7 old folks shooting. And an old folk won the day. The moral of the story… don’t f#ck with old folks, they can still shoot, and they will k!ll you. And they are practicing!

There were 3 ladies shooing. Nice to see.

The doodskis/Coffin Trophy, is about the person who has no hits on a target. In other words, YOU ARE DEAD.

There were quite a few clear targets, its not easy in the dark. Come out at the next night shoot and see how you do!!!!!
